Undergraduate Employment Opportunities

The Construction Materials Research Group (CMRG) and the Concrete Durability Center (CDC) are pleased at your interest in working with us in our research programs. We are presently looking for students with the ability to work, at least, 4-hour work blocks. Our business hours are from 8-5 Monday to Friday.

Most of our research involves determining physical properties of specific aggregates, mortars or concretes. Thus, the work for which we are seeking undergraduate research assistants involves, some lifting and weighing of materials, sieving, batching concrete, strength testing on universal load machines, and measuring length changes of specimens. Safety gear such as steel-toed work boots, gloves, and protective eyewear are provided as needed by the specific projects. All new employees must attend safety classes that are offered by the University free of charge.

The permanent staff that support our research projects are friendly and helpful and our faculty research supervisors are nationally known and respected in their areas of expertise. In addition to providing income, most students find the work an enjoyable and educational experience, providing engineering insights and hands-on experience that cannot be learned in a typical classroom.

Before we can offer you a position, we ask that you to fill out our application form and come to the lab for an interview.
