Greg Cumpton

Greg Cumpton is a Research and Systems Analyst at the Ray Marshall Center for the Study of Human Resources. He initially joined the Center in November 2004 as a Graduate Research Assistant.

Since that time, Mr. Cumpton has engaged in program evaluation activities for Project Supporting Optimal Scholarship, a locally-implemented federally-funded Advanced Placement initiative designed to increase the enrollment and performance of low-income students in AP courses, with Associate Director Deanna Schexnayder and Research Associate Daniel Schroeder.

Mr. Cumpton has also worked on the High School Graduate Data Center project, helping to administer two years’ of a longitudinal survey of area high school seniors. Additionally, he analyzed the limits of publicly-available datasets in answering the question of what high school seniors are doing after they graduate and why. He has been working on this project with Center Director Christopher T. King and Ms. Schexnayder.

Prior to joining the Center, Mr. Cumpton received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in May of 1995, where he taught intermediate and advanced algebra classes. Subsequently, he also taught middle and high school students, eventually accumulating a decade of teaching experience before entering the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin and receiving the Master of Public Affairs degree in May of 2006.
