Northwestern State University is the home of the Louisiana Addiction Technology Transfer Center (LATTC) and is the Louisiana office of the GCATTC. It is located at Northwestern State University at Natchitoches, Louisiana . The LATTC director, Joseph D. (Jody) Biscoe III, and staff carried out the following activities during the last four years: coordinated the National Leadership Institute program for the Gulf Coast Region and served as chairperson of the Louisiana Workgroup on moving from Certification to Licensure in Addiction Counseling. In addition, the office has assisted in the planning and writing of the Co-Occurring Grant for Louisiana, which was funded for $4 million yearly and assisted in the development and writing of the Access to Recovery Grant in Services for Louisiana, which was funded for $7 million yearly. The office also planned and implemented the Acute Crisis Management Workshops for the State of Louisiana for health care professionals (540 participants) and provided ASI/DENS trainings for health care professionals as part of the Access to Recovery initiative. In addition, the Northwestern State University's Addiction Studies Bachelor's degree program has been implemented. Mr. Biscoe is the coordinator for the Psychology Department's concentration in substance abuse counseling, the concentration in prevention, and the Bachelor of Science in Addiction Studies.
