Products for Multi-Language Audiences

InfoSIDA (http://www.aidsinfo.nih.gov/infoSIDA), a comprehensive Spanish-language companion to AIDSinfo was launched on April 18, 2007, featuring information about HIV treatment and clinical trials.

The AIDSinfo website, a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
(HHS) project, offers the latest federally approved information on HIV/AIDS clinical research, treatment and prevention, and medical practice guidelines.

infoSIDA enables Spanish-speaking visitors to access many of the materials provided by AIDSinfo without having to navigate through the English site. infoSIDA features a customized home page and a search engine that locates Spanish-language resources within the site.

Resources available in Spanish on infoSIDA include:

- Consumer-based fact sheets about HIV treatment and clinical trials

- Fact sheets on approved and investigational anti-HIV medications

- Links to currently recruiting HIV clinical trials of new treatments and vaccines

- Links to other Web sites and publications about HIV treatment

- Interactive Web-based tools, including Live Help and the Glossary Translation Tool

- Specialty pages that highlight important topics and observances

- A Web-based publications ordering page

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has developed a Multi-Language Initiative (MLI) as part of its Knowledge Application Program (KAP). MLI adapts KAP products and other Federal Government publications for substance abuse treatment clients and members of the general public whose first language is not English. MLI addresses the unfulfilled needs for treatment products among these groups. The following products recently became part of MLI and can be downloaded from www.kap.samhsa.gov/mli/index.htm. (The Spanish-language versions also are available in print.)

 

Aging, Medicines and Alcohol- This booklet is an adaptation of the English-language version produced by the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT). It contains information for older adults on alcohol use and medication-related problems as well as steps older adults can take to avoid problems resulting from mixing medications. It is available on line in Chinese-, Korean-, Russian-, and Spanish-language versions.

 

Good Mental Health is Ageless- This booklet is an adaptation of the English-language version produced by CSAT. It provides information for older adults about the symptoms of depression or dementia, basic facts regarding mental health, and suggestions on how to talk with physicians and how to contact organizations that provide additional information. It is available on line in Chinese-, Korean-, Russian- and Spanish-language versions.

 

Helping Yourself Heal: A Recovering Woman's Guide to Coping With Childhood Abuse Issues- This booklet is an adaptation of the English-language version produced by CSAT to accompany Treatment Improvement Protocol 36, Substance Abuse Treatment for Persons With Child Abuse and Neglect Issues . The brochure helps women who are entering treatment understand some of the feelings that can surface about the abuse they experienced as children. It is available on line in Chinese-, Korean-, and Spanish-language versions. (Helping Yourself Heal: A Recovering Man's Guide to Coping With the Effects of Childhood Abuse is available on line in Spanish.)
