Motivational Interviewing Training and Supervision
At the HBRT Institute we meet the training and supervision needs of our community providers without those services being cost prohibitive. Our trainers and coaches provide the necessary expertise, and our training infrastructure and web-based communication network provides the accessibility. A primary barrier to the training of the community providers in best practices, such as Motivational Interviewing, is the initial cost to providers for the training. By offering regional trainings throughout the state, the cost of the training can be shared by many providers.
The ongoing supervision required to ensure the fidelity of a motivational interviewing-based intervention can be cost-prohibitive. The high cost of providing this supervision is in large part related to the practical issues around the time and travel required to provide the supervision. We have implemented a system of training and supervision that is practical and sustainable. We have developed an infrastructure that utilizes the latest in web-based technologies to maximize the productivity of our large cadre of expert Coaches, bridge the geographical and time barriers between our Coaches and the practitioner in the field, and allow for efficient communication of questions, issues, and feedback that arise in the routine caring for patients and clients.
