Research Grant Recipients

The IDVSA is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2004 Research Grant Awards. These awards of $5,000 each were made possible by the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health and Dean Barbara White of the University of Texas School of Social Work. The purpose of the awards was to foster collaboration between university researchers and practitioners in advancing the knowledge about survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Research findings will be featured during brown bag presentations in the Spring 2005 semester

  • George Holden, PhD, The Nature of Children's Exposure to Domestic Violence: A Multi-informant Study
  • Elizabeth Keating, PhD, Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault in Texas: Service to Victims with Hearing Loss
  • Joohee Lee, Psychological Health in Asian and Caucasian Women who Have Experience Domestic Violence: The Role of Social Support and Coping.

2003 Research Grant Recipients

  • Shanti Kulkarni, Adolescent Mothers Speak Out About Their Lives and Relationships: Listening to Young Mothers Talk About Interpersonal Violence.
  • Jane Bost, PhD, Measuring the Effectiveness of Peer-Led Improvisational Theatre Techniques in Changing Student Attitudes and Behaviors Toward Interpersonal Violence.
  • Dawn Fowler, PhD, Defining and Assessing Spirituality for Women Survivors Coping with Partner Abuse.
