Second 2005 Seed Grant Recipient Announced
In addition to the seed grant awarded to Carol Lewis of CSWR earlier this year, the Institute on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault extends congratulations to Michele Rountree, the School of Social Work's newest Assistant Professor, who will receive the second 2005 seed grant from the Institute. Dr. Rountree's study "Comparative Analysis (Arizona and Texas): Integration of HIV/AIDS Risk Assessment and HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention Programming & Policy within Domestic Violence Shelters" will examine the HIV/AIDS risk assessment and HIV/AIDS specific prevention/education programming in domestic violence shelters in Texas and Arizona. 2005 Seed Grant Announcement: Dr. Carol Lewis
The Institute on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault would like to extend congratulations to Dr. Carol Lewis, CSWR Associate Director, who has been awarded a 2005 research seed grant from the Institute, made possible through a grant from the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health. Dr. Lewis' study, "Interpersonal Violence and Adolescent Mothers: The Role of Personal Relationships in Student Success," will examine how teenage mothers' interpersonal relationships influence their families, educational achievements and ability to participate in a teen parenting program. Co-investigators are CSWR Director and Associate Dean for Research, Dr. Ruth McRoy, and Carolyn Patterson-Williams of the Austin Learning Academy.
