| STEER was conceived by structural engineering graduate students at the University of Texas at Austin as a forum to discuss engineering issues with practicing engineers. The original STEER was held in 1985. Subsequent reunions were held in 1993 to honor the late Robert J.G. MacGregor, in 1997 to celebrate the careers of Ned H. Burns and Richard W. Furlong, and in 2003 in conjunction with the centennial celebration for the Department of Civil Engineering. Steer 2007 coincides with the 75th birthday of John E. Breen. |
