Paleobotany.  Study of the plant remains from all levels of the middle Neolithic site at Capo Alfiere was performed by Dr. Lorenzo Costantini of the Laboratorio di Bioarcheologia of the Ministero dei Beni Culturali in Rome.

Archaeozoology. The faunal remains from Capo Alfiere were analyzed by the late Prof. Sandor Bökönyi of the Archaeological Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest.

Geomorphology. A geomorphological study of the chora of Croton, with special reference to the river valleys, formed part of James T. Abbott's 1997 Ph.D. dissertation at the University of Texas at Austin, directed by Prof. Karl Butzer of the Department of Geography.
