Purpose:
The seminar will provide an understanding of rules and regulations associated with export controls and their real-world application at UT-Austin. Participants will gain an understanding of the federal environment that is driving the need for more stringent protection of information.
Selected presentation highlights:
- What is covered and not covered under the export control regulations
- How the regulations affect research projects
- Export control issues regarding travel outside the U.S.
- Government concerns about the destination country, organization, or individual
- Shipping items outside the U.S.
- How foreign graduate students are affected by the export regulations
- The penalties for unlawful export and disclosure
- The procedures we have in place to protect you AND the University
