Grants.gov Submission Instructions

NIH will fully transition to Grants.gov beginning January 25, 2007. You can find NIH’s announcement at: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-07-001.html

NEW! Submitting an NIH Proposal Using Grants.gov

The University of Texas at Austin is piloting use of Cayuse424 to submit NIH proposals through Grants.gov. Cayuse424 is a web-based system for preparing and submitting Grants.gov proposals that is compatible with both PCs and Macs.

Beginning in January 2007, the Office of Sponsored Projects will require use of Cayuse424 to prepare and submit NIH proposals to Grants.gov. Investigators and administrators who plan to submit R01 or any other NIH proposals after January 1, 2007 should enroll in a training session to learn how to use Cayuse424.

To enroll yourself in a Cayuse424 training session, use TXClass to select a class date for course SP 110 and enroll yourself. You will need to use your UT-EID and password to access TXClass.

Additional information about using Cayuse424 successfully is available here.

Submitting Other Grants.gov Proposals

For Grants.gov proposals to agencies other than NIH, use PureEdge to create your proposal.

    1. You will need to install the PureEdge Viewer (for new users) and PureEdge Viewer Upgrade (for both new users and existing users) before downloading the Grants.gov application. To install the PureEdge Viewer, go to the web site http://www.grants.gov/DownloadViewer and follow the instructions.

    2. Go to http://www.grants.gov and, under "Apply for Grants," click "Download grant application packages."

    3. Using the PureEdge Viewer, download the grant application package with the relevant CFDA number and Funding Opportunity number (from the solicitation).

    4. Fill out the application and submit it to OSP. Please make sure all attachments within the application are in the format requested by the sponsor (PDF, Word, etcetera).

Sending Your Proposal to OSP

    1. Fill out a Proposal Review Form (PRF):

    2. Submit the proposal to OSP by:

--Sending an electronic version of the application in the PureEdge Viewer through RMS, or

--Downloading the file to a CD and delivering it to OSP.

Please do not send your application by email.
