Funding or Award Criteria “By identifying and investing in some of the brightest and most innovative contemporary thinkers, Carnegie Corporation seeks to inform its own programs as well as to advance and diffuse knowledge that will uplift our nation and humanity. Since 2005, the program has supported scholars whose work seeks to promote American understanding of Islam as a religion, the characteristics of Muslim societies, in general, and those of American Muslim communities, in particular.”

Required Internal Review Documents
  1. Dean's letter of nomination (<2 pages);
  2. Nominee's CV (<15 pages); and,
  3. A brief prospectus (1,000 words maximum) of the proposed project. 
Notes No new Carnegie Scholars will be named in 2010 as the Program will pause in order to take stock of its accomplishments, and to consider future priorities
