Purpose:
UT employees traveling outside the U.S. are affected by the export control regulations. There is a lot of misinformation or misunderstanding about what you can or cannot take with you while traveling or working abroad. This presentation will provide clarification on what the regulations permit you to take in support of your work or conference, and the procedures put in place to not only protect you, but also UT.
The Presentation will cover:
- How taking items with you while traveling abroad could require a license from the Department of State or Department of Commerce
- How an exception may be available so you can take what you need without a license
- How an exemption may be available so a colleague at UT can email or send to you controlled technology without a license
- What the exception/exemption covers and does not cover
- Record-keeping requirements and the procedures and forms we have put in place
- Countries of concern
- Visiting Scientists and Visiting Scientist Agreements
Who should attend?
- Faculty
- Research Scientists
- Postdoctoral Fellows
- Graduate Students
- Research Administrators
