Former MIT sponsored projects director
speaks about export controls and research
Julie Norris, the recently retired director of the Office of Sponsored Projects at MIT, will make two presentations on export control regulations and their applications to university research.
Her first presentation will be 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, Nov. 11, at the ACES Avaya Auditorium, room 2.302. She’ll speak from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at the Pickle Research Campus, in the Little Tex Auditorium in the Commons Building.
At MIT, Norris managed the pre-award and post-award activities in sponsored programs, which included primary responsibility for issues relating to compliance with export controls.
“I recommend that you and the research staff under your supervision make an effort to attend one of the two presentations,” said Juan Sanchez, vice president for research. “I am confident that the presentations by Ms. Norris will provide an excellent opportunity for the research community to gain important knowledge about this significant area of compliance affecting both the university and the individual researcher.”
RSVP to Judy Anderson in the Office of Sponsored Projects at 512-475-8767 or at jcanderson@mail.texas.edu.
The Office of the Vice President for Research and the Office of Sponsored Projects are sponsoring Norris’s talks.
