Mandatory Financial Conflict of Interest Training for University Researchers

The University of Texas at Austin Objectivity in Research (OIR) policy requires completion of Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) training by all individuals responsible for the design, conduct, or reporting of research at least every four years. The required FCOI training is offered online through the University Compliance Services Compliance Training System (CTS). FCOI training must be completed prior to submission of a Financial Interest Disclosure Form (FID).

NOTE: The training offered through University Compliance Services replaces the FCOI training previously administered through CITI. FCOI training completed through CITI is applicable for four years.

Instructions for Completing FCOI Training for University Researchers

Step 1:

Visit https://utdirect.utexas.edu/cts/index.WBX (Opens new window). You will be prompted to log in to UT Direct using your UT EID and password. You will then be directed to the University Compliance Training System.

Step 2:

Select “RC 410 Financial Conflict of Interest” from the Optional Modules Available list. You will then be directed to the training module site for “RC 410 Financial Conflict of Interest.”

(NOTE: RC 410 will NOT appear under Modules Needed. You must select it from the Optional Modules Available list.)

Step 3:

Select “View Presentation.” The training module will appear in the window.

Step 4:

Review the training slides and select the Certify Now button at the end to receive credit.

In addition to completing the FCOI training, you are also required to submit a financial interest disclosure (FID) form. Visit The Office of Research Support web site for more information regarding the FID submission process: http://www.utexas.edu/research/rsc/coi/fid.html.
