Records

TARL Records maintains the official Smithsonian Trinomial site numbering system for the state of Texas, and curates documents for over 60,000 sites representing over 80 years of archeological investigation within the state. Among the records housed at TARL is information from early excavations by The University of Texas Department of Anthropology, Texas Archeological Salvage Project, Texas Archeological Survey, the Works Progress Administration, and the National Parks Service/Smithsonian Institution River Basin Surveys as well as that from more recent investigations by many different agencies, firms, and individuals.
