Michael W. Alford, P.E.


Michael W. Alford received his Bachelor of Science in 1982 in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University. He has 24+ years of experience in transportation engineering and is currently the Director of Maintenance for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Houston District. In this position, he is responsible for maintenance contracting, maintenance operations, Galveston/Port Bolivar Ferry Operations, facilities maintenance, equipment, emergency management and permitting for driveways ( access management) and utilities.


From 1982 until 1986, Alford has worked as a TxDOT Project Manager for the Galveston County Area Office. In the period of 1986 until 1988, he was promoted as a TxDOT Assistant Area Engineer for the Galveston County Area Office. Between 1988 and 1998, Alford worked as a TxDOT District Construction Staff Engineer and as a TxDOT Area Engineer. Since 1998, Alford has been the TxDOT Director of Maintenance for the Houston District.
