Tracy Cumby


Tracy Cumby is a graduate of Wayland Baptist University, where he received his Bachelors in Business Administration in 1996.


Tracy began his career in 1978 in the Tulia Maintenance section as a Maintenance Technician. During Tracy’s career in maintenance he began operating all types of equipment, including asphalt distributors which he continued to operate until his Promotion to Assistant Maintenance Section Supervisor in 1986. Tracy remained in Tulia as an Assistant Maintenance Section Supervisor until his promotion to Maintenance Section Supervisor in Levelland in April 1991. For the next 10 years Tracy was responsible for all roadway maintenance operations in Hockley County until his promotion to his current position as District Maintenance Administrator in the Lubbock District, where he is responsible for overseeing the district’s in-house seal coat program, mill and inlay projects and special in-house construction projects including material selection. As Routine Airport Maintenance Coordinator (RAMP) Tracy also consults with area airports on the maintenance of airport taxi-ways, runways and aprons.


Tracy has served a member of Research Management Committee 1, Technical Advisory Panel for 11 years and has served as a Project Director, Implementation Director, and Project Advisor on several pavement maintenance related research projects. Tracy was named Project Director of the year in 2005. Tracy also serves as a member of the Seal Coat Advisory Committee for the Texas Asphalt Pavement Association and Texas Department of Transportation.
