Staying Connected Is Focus of Julian Carter's Speech to RFSA

"I never gardened with a pickax before moving to Dripping Springs," joked Julien Carter, new Texan and associate vice president for Human Resources who recently came to UT from the University of Louisville, in his speech to the Retired Faculty-Staff Association at their annual spring meeting held in the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center March 5.

The main thrust of his speech, however, dealt with the efforts Human Resource Services is making to fulfill its mission of service to the various groups on campus and staying connected to retirees.

Carter called the retirees' mission and that of HRS a "natural partnership" and cited the purposes of RFSA as promulgated in its constitution saying they fit with the services HRS provides. Purposes of RFSA that he quoted are rendering service to UT Austin, enriching the retirement experience through social and informational activities, providing feedback to UT officials about the viability of current retirement benefits, and representing members' concerns related to possible changes impacting retirement benefits.
