He went on to enumerate some of the initiatives that HRS is making that mesh with RFSA's goals and HRS' desire to tap into the tremendous amount of experience represented by retirees. To begin with, Carter said he and his staff have established regular meetings with Billye Brown, former dean of the School of Nursing, Norman Minter, incoming RFSA president, and Alice Bridges, co-chair of RFSA Health Interest Group, to gather retiree health insurance concerns to present to the UT System Insurance Advisory Committee.

Other projects that Carter talked about that HRS is working on include establishing a mentoring relationship between retirees and current employees contemplating retirement, inaugurating a partnership program between retirees and UT activities, utilizing the skills and knowledge that retirees possess to aid departments when temporary needs arise and improving communications with retirees.  To this end, HRS is developing a web site that he called a one-stop shop, dedicated solely to retirees that will contain information impacting their concerns.
