About RFSA

The RFSA provides a wide range of activities designed to enrich the retirement experiences of its members. In addition, it serves as a mechanism for advising UT officials about the suitability of current retirement benefits. A complete statement of the purposes of the Association can be found in the Constitution.

The Association has two general meetings each year at which members can renew old acquaintances, one in the fall in conjunction with President Power’s reception for newly retired faculty and staff, and one in the spring. In addition, the UT System Chancellor hosts a holiday reception for the members.

Members may participate in any or all of the following Interest Groups (click on the name of the group for detailed information):

  • The Bridge Group meets on the first Monday of each month in the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center. It always needs new players and substitutes to fill in when unexpected absences occur.

  • The Discussion Group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Yarborough Branch of the Austin Public Library to hear speakers on a wide range of topics.

  • The Exercise Group meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings in the Recreational Sports Building. An instructor will assist you with your individual needs.

  • The Finance Group meets at various times in a variety of settings to learn more about finance and investments.

  • The Fine Arts Group meets at various times in a variety of settings to learn more about the current state of the fine arts in Austin.

  • The Health Group meets on the third Monday of the month at the Howson Branch Library to hear speakers on health-related topics.

  • The Travel Group meets at various times during the year and plans trips to points of interest in Texas, the United States, Mexico and Central America.

Many members contribute to the RFSA Scholarship Fund, which provides financial support to nine UT students this year.

For additional information, contact any of the current officers, or Carol Barrett at the Texas Exes, 512-471-8081.
