A primary mission of the Retired Faculty/Staff Association is to give back to UT through the RFSA Scholarship Fund. As an endowment fund, only the income from the principal is available for scholarships.
The Fund is supported by gifts from members and non-members, usually donated in memory or celebration of a person connected in some way with the donor or the University. With increasing membership the Fund's value has increased, with a market value in excess of $613,000 (2013).
In the 2013-2014 school year RFSA gave 10 students scholarships of $2500 and 2 students scholarships of $3500. The total awarded in 2013-14 is $32,000.
The Fund is administered by the UT Office of Student Financial Services, and scholarship recipients are selected by Student Financial Services.
Gifts to the RFSA Scholarship Fund may be designated to memorialize friends and colleagues, to honor individuals, or to celebrate special occasions, such as birthdays, weddings, accomplishments or friendships, or gifts may be undesignated.
