Formal
The Battalion holds one formal per semester, either a Dining In or Dining Out. Only Battalion personnel and Unit Staff attend a Dining In, whereas dates and guests are invited to a Dining Out. The Fall formal is traditionally a Dining Out to celebrate the birthdays of the Navy and Marine Corps. The Spring formal may be either a Dining In or Dining Out. In addition to exposing the Midshipmen to Navy and Marine Corps traditions and ceremonies, formals are entertaining breaks from students' rigorous academic schedules.
