Sailing
The NROTC Battalion seeks to round out the professional knowledge of the Navy Midshipmen by offering a sailing curriculum, in cooperation with local Austin facilities. Each semester, we hold a sailing Regatta to tests the skills we developed over the semester. This Regatta is often held in conjunction with other sailing groups, including the University’s Sailing Club.
The 2006 UT Naval ROTC Annual Sailing Regatta was a great success this year, in no small part due to the efforts of the workers and racers, as well as the immense hospitality of the Austin Yacht Club
. After weeks of practice, eight teams competed for first place amongst the best sailors in the Naval ROTC. The two-person teams manned the Naval ROTC’s three model 420 sailboats and raced six races to complete a detailed bracket determining the best sailors within the Unit. More Midshipmen and Officer Candidates were involved with the sailing competition this year, making the 2006 UT Naval ROTC Regatta one of the most successful to date.
