Animal Problems — Who to Call

Animal Make Safe will respond to incidents involving live animals inside campus buildings, exceptions are below. Bats are given special consideration due to the risk of rabies therefore we will also respond to a grounded bat (one which can not fly) outdoors, or a dead bat inside.

We will not respond to rodents, insects, animals outside buildings (except bats as mentioned above), dead animals, or animals loose on campus. Contacts for these cases are below.

If you are concerned about an injured or orphaned wild animal, please call Wildlife Rescue’s 24-hour hotline at 472-9453.

  • Indoors — EHS, 512-471-2287 or City of Austin Animal Control, 972-6060. Alternate 972-4738 (ask for Animal Control). Animal Control will not respond unless UTPD asks for their assistance. Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Outside of these hours they need to be contacted by calling 311.
