Responsibilities of Physical Plant — Architectural And Engineering Services

  1. Architectural and Engineering Services (A and E) is responsible for the coordination of asbestos abatement projects for the Physical Plant Department which involve the use of outside contractors, subcontractors, and asbestos specialty contractors other than the Open Order Contractor (See flowchart on page 12).
  2. A and E Projects/Design Managers will advise the Asbestos Compliance Program of project locations and request an inspection to determine the need for bulk sampling and analysis of suspect ACM (appendix). They will use this information for the proper inclusion in the project specifications.
  3. A and E will submit proposed plans dealing with ACM abatement to the Consultant in the project specifications or will establish a separate project to deal with the ACM prior to the scheduling of the main project activities.
  4. A and E will review and accept bids, award contracts, secure work orders and coordinate through the Physical Plant Insulation Shop #38 for tracking purposes.
  5. A and E will coordinate contractor projects with the occupant/user departments and notify Planning and Scheduling if there is a need for outages.
