Emergency Procedures
These emergency procedures are for UT Austin use only and are presented as a quick reference. UT personnel should always contact their supervisor, Environmental Health and Safety personnel, and other trained emergency responders in the event of an emergency.
Emergency responders are available from Environmental Health and Safety when a biological, chemical, or radioactive spill occurs. Responders are also available for other hazardous incidents such as possible gas leaks, indoor-air quality and drinking water concerns.
Please call 471-3511 during normal service hours Monday – Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Nights, weekends and holidays, please contact the Campus Police at 911. The police will refer the call to the proper emergency responder.
However, in the event of a fire, serious injury, or other life threatening situation, call City of Austin Emergency Services first at 9-911 then call UT Police at 911 to escort and assist City services.
Remember to have your name, number, location, and any other pertinent information available at the time of the call. It is important to inform the safety office and the police if any one has been injured or if there has been a personal exposure.
