Paper donations help children learn about recycling
Did you know that you’re helping with the learning process when you send unwanted letterhead and scrap paper to Printing Services? In fact, your paper donations may appear in an art project or in a lesson plan about recycling thanks to our program that collects unused paper from across campus and donates it to The University of Texas at Austin Child Development Center.
“We are very excited about the recycling program that UT Printing is sponsoring for us,” says Sandy Briley, director of the Child Development Center. “We have an unending need for recycled paper, and we use it for art projects, book making, literacy and math activities, kites for outdoors, kazoos… The uses of the paper are limitless, and this inspires the imaginations of our children and teachers.”
Paper donations also help children learn first-hand about how recycling works. Briley continues, “Learning to take care of our environment is an important part of our curriculum, and using recycled paper and other objects shows children ways to care for the earth.”
The Child Development Center is always looking for more paper donations to include in their learning process, and they welcome your outdated letterhead or scrap paper that is printed on one side. To make donations, remove all staples and paper clips, label the paper as a donation, and mail it to UT Printing (mail code: E3500) or call 512-471-5464 to arrange for us to pick up your paper.
