Tower lights recognize centennial of

The University of Texas at Austin Tower lights will honor the Department of Civil Engineering’s centennial Nov. 7. The Tower will be lighted with an orange shaft, white top and the number “100.”
Dean T.U. Taylor formally organized the College of Engineering’s first department with only two faculty members and a handful of dedicated engineering students 100 years ago. Today the Civil Engineering Department is one of the largest in the country, with more than 9,000 living alumni and 1,000 current students.
