Student Employment Requirements
The first thing you should look at is the School of Social Work's Confidentiality Agreement. Your job will likely require your understanding of that agreement.
The University of Texas also requires some mandatory compliance classes. So, if this is your first job with the University, please look at the section for Graduate Student Employees. You are required to take two online modules: EEO and sexual harassment. Here are some other useful sites regarding your student employment at the School of Social Work. Before you contact a staff member of the School, please look for your answers here.
| Appointment Information | Information about your current appointment: active/process, title, hours, dates, percent time. Look at this page and if there is any discrepancy, then contact your payroll office immediately. |
| Graduate student employment | Information from the Office of Graduate Studies. |
| Health Insurance Waiver | International students who have a continuous 20-hour appointment can request this health insurance waiver for the semester specified on the form only. Just like the out-of-state waiver, this form needs to be completed each semester for which you have a 20-hour appointment. For additional information, please see the Student Insurance Waivers page. |
| Human Resources - Benefits | HR's Benefits section can be reached at 471-4343. If you are a new employee, you have 30 days from the official employment start date to make any changes on benefits coverage. |
| Out-of-state tuition waivers | Waivers must be submitted every semester in which the student is employed 20 hours or more. |
| Parking | If you are working 20 hours a week or more, you are eligible to purchase an "A" class parking permit. A memo was sent to P&T indicating you were eligible for that permit. |
| Paycheck profile | Information needs to be current at all times. This informs UT where you want your check to go to (bank account, check stub, etc.). |
| Payroll | If you have questions about your paycheck, such as deductions, please call 471-5271. That office can see your paycheck and explain what was deducted. At the School we do not have access to your check details. |
| Tuition assistance | Only TAs and AIs are eligible for tuition assistance. However, the School makes every possible attempt to provide tuition assistance for GAs and GRAs, but funds are sometimes limited. Please check with CSWR or the Dean's Office to find out if your position includes tuition assistance and how it will be paid. Since Fall 2006, tuition assistance has been processed this way for TAs and AIs. You can get complete information by visiting the link on the left.
|
| Tuition Billing | For questions about your tuition and fees bill, please call 475-7777. |
All appointments are subject to the provisions of the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents and the Handbook of Operating Procedures of The University of Texas at Austin. All payments represent gross amounts and are subject to deductions as required by State and Federal law for Old-Age and Survivors Insurance and withholding for income tax.
For questions about your job at CSWR (Center for Social Work Research), please contact Dr. Carol Lewis at 471-9219. For other job positions paid via the Dean's Office, please contact Egídio Leitão at 471-7258.
