MSSW: Application Process
Admission Requirements | Review Process | Checklist
To pursue graduate study at The University of Texas at Austin, admission to both the Graduate School and the School of Social Work is required. In order to be considered for admission, you must complete an online application.
When application materials have been received by the Graduate School and the School of Social Work, an applicant file is created and processing begins. After a Graduate Admission Committee review, the School of Social Work Graduate Advisor forwards a recommendation for admission to the Vice President and Dean of Graduate Studies at the University. While the Graduate School generally follows the recommendation made by the School of Social Work, official acceptance into any graduate program requires the approval of the Dean of the Graduate School. Applicants should expect to receive a decision letter from both the Graduate School and the School of Social Work.
Questions regarding Graduate School admission should be directed to the Graduate School of The University of Texas at Austin, (512) 475-7390. Send the materials listed below only to the Graduate School:
- $50.00 non-refundable application fee. Follow the online application instructions for payment options.
- One official copy of your transcript(s). Include transcripts for all college coursework. If currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program, a final transcript indicating degree awarded must to be forwarded to the Graduate School as soon as available.
- One official copy of your GRE score report. When taking the GRE General Test, have your score report sent to The University of Texas at Austin. Additional score reports can be requested by calling ETS at 1-888-GRE-SCORE.
