Duration: 3/1/02-8/31/03

This project's purpose is to determine the rate and prevalence of sexual assault in the State of Texas. The data will be collected using structured telephone surveys of adults (21 and older) living in Texas. Residents will be asked about their previous experiences with sexual assault both as children and as adults. The sample will be drawn based on considerations of the representativeness of the Texas population. Participants will be asked a series of screening questions to determine whether they have experienced sexual assault within specific time periods. The instrument was developed in collaboration with practitioner and research experts in the area of sexual assault.
