A Feasibility Study of Short-Term Depression Treatment for Homebound Older Adults

Principal Investigator:
Namkee Choi, Ph.D.

Duration: 1/29/08 - 1/31/09

The goal of the study is to test the feasibility of trained bachelor's-level aging service providers' implementation of in-home PST for homebound older adults with moderate-to-severe depressive symptoms. In the first step of the study, we will train four senior case managers in PST. In the second step, the trained case managers will provide PST to a total of 30 older adults who meet the study inclusion criteria. We will collect both quantitative and qualitative data for process evaluation. Lastly, we will conduct and analyze individual interviews with case managers and older adults at post intervention and follow-up interviews of older adults at 3 month post-intervention.
