When and Where to Arrive

Commencement Celebration
Join us for a Commencement Celebration on Friday evening, May 16, 2008, 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm on the front lawn of the School of Social Work. You will receive an invitation soon. An RSVP card, included with your invitation, will be required. Please plan to attend with your guests.
Caps, Gowns, Tassels, and Announcements
Caps and gowns and graduation announcements can be ordered from the University Co-Op. Your order should be submitted as soon as possible. The color of your tassel is "citron," and the cap and gown are the traditional color of black. Undergraduate degree candidates purchase a stole with their cap and gown. Graduate degree candidates purchase the traditional hood with their cap and gown.

Photographs
We have made arrangements for a photographer to take group pictures of each class. These will be taken prior to the School of Social Work ceremony so it is very important that you arrive on time (2:00 pm) or you may not be included in the group picture(s). The photographer will also be taking individual pictures of graduates as they walk across the stage. Pictures will be available for purchase, and each graduate will be mailed information about how to order them shortly after the ceremony.
When and Where to Arrive
Graduating students should arrive at 2:00 p.m. Please be prompt. Degree candidates will enter through the west-side entrance on the San Jacinto side of the RSC. Please wear comfortable shoes, as there will be a processional. Leave personal belongings at home, in your car, or with a family member because there is no secure place to leave them. There are 'very limited' restroom facilities behind the stage at Bass Hall (i.e., one).
Who Can Walk and How Will You Know I'm Attending?
The School of Social Work Commencement Ceremony will recognize students graduating from the Spring 2008 semester. We are prepared for a 100% turnout. There will be a check-in station just inside the graduate assembly room. Each graduating student will receive a card. This card will be used in announcing names, degree, honors, and scholarships or fellowships.

If you wish to have remarks printed in the Commencement Reflections, please return this form (PDF) to the Student Services Receptionist by Monday, May 5th.
Reception
There will be a Graduation BBQ on Friday evening, May 16, 2008, 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm on the front lawn of the School of Social Work. You will receive an invitation soon. An RSVP card, included with your invitation, will be required. Please plan to attend with your guests.
After the Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 17, 2008, come say your good-byes, take pictures under the trees or on the front steps of the School of Social Work. Also all graduates and their guests are invited to the Alumni Center to celebrate their big day with a complimentary champagne toast and snacks. Champagne, ginger ale and coffee will be provided by the Texas Exes. The Alumni Center is just a brief walk from the Recreational Sports Center, 2110 San Jacinto (across from Memorial Stadium). There will be plenty of room for visiting and pictures. (www.TexasExes.org )
