MSSW Information
On Saturday, May 17, 2008, The University of Texas at Austin Graduate School ceremony will be held at 9:00 a.m. for master's degree candidates. The ceremony will be held in the Recreational Sports Center (RSC). You should have received information separately from the Graduate School regarding this ceremony. (This ceremony is only for those students (degree candidates) that have completed all requirements by the end of Spring 2008 and have filed for May 2008 graduation.)

Our School of Social Work's commencement ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 17, at 3:00 p.m. at the Recreational Sports Center (RSC). This ceremony is the one in which you will be recognized individually as you walk proudly across the stage and have your picture taken as you receive congratulations on your achievements.
Students should arrive at the Recreational Sports Center (RSC) at 2:00 p.m. You will enter through the west-side entrance on the San Jacinto side of the RSC. Please be there on time so that the ceremony is not delayed and disrupted by late arrivals. Social Work's ceremony is anticipated to last no longer than 1 1/2 to 2 hours, with the majority of the time spent honoring our graduates (BSW, MSSW and PhD) as they walk across the stage.
Guests will enter through the south entrance of the Recreational Sports Center (RSC). This entrance is located on the side of the RSC closest to the School of Social Work. The doors will open for guests at 2:30 p.m. Assisted entry for degree candidates and guests is available at the west-side entrance of the Recreational Sports Center. If you or your guests attending the Ceremony need special arrangements, please contact Julie Cunniff at 471-0562 (by Monday, May 5, 2008).
The University's 125th Spring Commencement Ceremony will be held on the South Mall on Saturday, May 17, 2008, and will begin at 8:00 p.m. (in case of rain, it will be held in the Erwin Center). All May 2008 degree candidates, families, and friends are invited to the University-wide Commencement ceremony, the most important event of the academic year. An occasion rich in tradition, it is held in the heart of UT's historic campus, at the Tower. An evening of unforgettable sights and sounds will pay tribute to the Class of 2008: heraldic banners and ceremonial flagstriumphant fanfares and exquisite voices in songa Grand Procession of students and faculty in regalia of every color and huethe dramatic lighting of the Tower at the moment degrees are conferred, all culminating with a brilliant flare of fireworks in the Texas sky. An unforgettable evening under the starsa ceremony like no otheran experience to cherish for a lifetime. (Graduates will begin assembling at 7:30 p.m. on the South Mall. Look for the sign saying "Social Work.")
All degree candidates participating in the Saturday evening Commencement are required to present a ticket when lining up for the Grand Procession. Tickets will be available beginning May 5th at the Frank Erwin Center Red River box office. These tickets are only for degree candidates to provide a seat count of how many graduates will be attending the Saturday evening ceremony and will not limit the number that can participate. Your UT ID will be required to pick up a ticket. Seating for guests does not require a ticket. Seating for guests will begin/open at 5:00 p.m. and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
