Sand Tray 101: Theory and Steps to Help Begin Your Path to Practice (Limited to 16 Participants) 

Have you heard about sand tray therapy but always wondered what it was all about? Find out by attending this full day, hands-on workshop. Participants will learn the theory and specific practice techniques of this experiential tool that you can use with children, adolescents, and adults. This workshop is divided into 3 parts: theory and practice, demonstration, and self-practice.

PRESENTER: Lauren Gaspar, LCSW

Lauren Gaspar has a private practice called the Good Mourning Counseling Center in Austin. She specializes in the practice of play therapy and sandtray therapy with children and adolescents, with a focus on addressing trauma, depression, anxiety, and bereavement. She has been a lecturer for The University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work since 2006.

Play Therapy Symposium-What is Theraplay?

Third Annual Play Therapy Symposium

Theraplay is a short-term, therapist-guided dyadic psychotherapy that focuses on parent-child relationships. This training will include interactive elements to practice a variety of Theraplay activities, as well as videos of Theraplay sessions.

PRESENTER: Mary Ring, LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT/S

Mary Ring, received a B.S. in Special Education from University of Houston in 1973.  For the past 15 years she has served as a counselor for The Juliana Poor Memorial Counseling Center at Houston’s First Baptist Church, and is now the clinical coordinator of the family team, and has developed a structured family treatment program.  In October of 2005 she became a Certified Theraplay Therapist, and has led workshops for parents and therapists using Theraplay, Play Therapy and Play Parenting materials. She became a certified Theraplay Trainer in 2007 and has trained in the U.S, Europe and South Africa.
