
Clinical Assistant Professor
Robin McCullough Smith was born and raised in Houston, and earned her MSSW degree at the University of Texas. In her 30 years in Austin, and 18 years as a clinical social worker, Robin has worked in many areas, including women’s reproductive healthcare, adult and geriatric mental health, hospital social work and social work education. Robin was Manager of Admissions for St. David’s Pavilion psychiatric hospital for 8 years. Robin also taught undergraduate social work as a Lecturer for 9 years prior to joining the Clinical Faculty. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a board certified Clinical Supervisor and a member of NASW. Robin has been active in Austin’s recovery community for over 20 years, and volunteers as a mentor with Austin Partners in Education. She and her husband, Doug, have a 10 year-old son, Carson, and enjoy spending summers with friends and family in the mountains of New Mexico.

Mental health and chemical dependency assessment and treatment; hospital social work; suicide risk assessment and prevention; crisis counseling; 12-step recovery; social welfare policy; social work-related topics in journalism.
