Professional Interests
Marital and group therapy, using parllel processes (teaching and practice) in classroom instruction. Developed the Birth Family Continuum Model to help protective service workers and foster and adoptive parents work with birth parents.

About
Ruth Fagan-Wilen, LCSW, PhD has taught clinical courses in family and group therapy at the graduate level for 18 years at two school of social work, and presently both teaches in the clinical track at the UT School of Social Work and is the Adjunct Faculty Liaison for the program. Dr. Fagan-Wilen obtained her MSW from the Worden School of Social Service, Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, TX and her PhD in Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. She also has a private practice in marriage and family therapy with a specialty in women's issues. She has been Clinical Director of the Depression Treatment Center of San Antonio, Director of Professional Services at Jewish Family Services in San Antonio, and most recently was Acting Division Director of the Casey Family Program, a long-term, nationally-based foster care program. Dr. Fagan-Wilen has offered numerous workshops nationally in the areas of women's issues, foster care, working with birth parents of children in out-of-home care, adolescent suicide prevention, and the long-term affects of childhood sexual abuse.
