About
Professor Haulotte is a Clinical Associate Professor and Co-Principal Investigator on a gerontology project.
Originally from Michigan, Professor Haulotte moved to the Austin area in 1983 and received her Masters degree from The University of Texas in 1989. From 1989 until her appointment at The University in 1996, she worked in various long term care settings, both for-profit and non-profit. During that time Professor Haulotte received numerous awards, including Social Worker of the Year. She served on a state-wide interdisciplinary task force on end-of-life issues and was a frequent presenter at local, state, and national conferences.
In 1994, Professor Haulotte's work with Alzheimer's disease was featured in a one-act play. The play was later produced as a video. She has written two staff training manuals for nursing homes and instituted a palliative care project. Professor Haulotte has written a number of articles for journals, co-edited a casebook and authored a chapter in a textbook on rural social work.
While working in long term care, Professor Haulotte began teaching at The School of Social Work at The University of Texas as an adjunct professor. She is currently completing her tenth year as full time clinical faculty. In addition to teaching courses, Professor Haulotte liaisons to students in field placements.
Professor Haulotte has volunteer experience at the Austin Police Department in Victim Services (both as a crisis worker and as a trainer), the Alzheimer's Association, the Long Term Care Social Workers organization, and St. David's Hospital.
