About
Dr. Kassler received his B.S. and M.S. from Memphis State University, and his Ph.D. from The University of Memphis (the same school; a name change occurred in ~1995.) His master's thesis and doctoral dissertation centered on the "literariness" of text, and suspense in both text and film, respectively.
After receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Kassler entered the software industry in the field of usability (AKA interface design, user experience, ergonomics, etc.). His first endeavor was an internship at IBM Research Center in White Plains, NY, where he worked at designing a natural language banking interface. Since completing his internship he has worked at several software companies, including Bellcore, Autodesk, and a failed start-up in the boom of the late 1990s. The software being developed at these companies ranged from enterprise level to off-the-shelf tools. Currently, Dr. Kassler works at BMC Software in Austin, TX.
Dr. Kassler resides with his wife, Dr. Dina Kassler, in Cedar Park, TX. Together they enjoy reading, video games, and travel.
