About

Farnaz Masumian has taught World Religions in higher education for the past 15 years. She has been teaching World Religions and Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin since 2005. Her course covers the history, teachings, and principles of Hinduism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and the Bahá'í Faith and the application of religious teachings to social work. Her primary research interest is in the area of afterlife, Near-Death Experiences (NDEs), and meditation in world religions. She is also an author and has published two interfaith books: Life After Death: A Study of the Afterlife in World Religions which has so far been reprinted three times, translated into several languages and won first prize in religion/spirituality category at the 1998 Beijing, China Book Fair; and Divine Educators which she has co-authored with her husband Bijan Masumian. This book focuses on common themes and patterns in the lives of the founders of great religions of the world.

Over the past decade, Farnaz has given workshops on World Religions and their eschatology (afterlife teachings) at the University of Texas at Austin and New Mexico State University. She has also given talks at churches, religious centers, libraries, and local conferences as community service.
