About
Steve McKee, MSSW teaches Development through the Lifespan and Social Work Practice with Organizations and Communities at the University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work. In addition to private clinical practice with adults and adolescents, he provides consulting, training and facilitation services to a wide range of public, nonprofit and private organizations throughout Texas.
Steve founded and directed Pathways Community Counseling, a nationally recognized children's mental health center that served more than 1,000 children and families annually in Central Texas. In the late 1990's he cofounded LifeWorks, a leading provider of mental health, emergency shelter, and transitional living and education services in Austin, Texas. His interest and knowledge of best practices in forming strategic alliances has lead him to conduct workshops and provide alliance facilitation for groups statewide.
Steve is a graduate of the IBM Leadership Development Program and the Certificate Program in Administration of Non-Profit Organizations (the University of Texas at Austin). He recently completed ten years of service as a reviewer for the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration's Exemplary Program Committee. He and his wife Janice Sturrock have a 17- year old son, Eugene. When not teaching, listening, training or consulting Steve might be found sailing on Lake Travis, walking at Town Lake, planning a vacation to Colorado, or reading the works of a range of contemporary writers of fiction and poetry.
