About
Jack Nowicki, LCSW, has been a lecturer for the Graduate School of Social Work off and on since 1996, teaching Theories and Methods of Family Intervention, Treatment of Children & Adolescents, and currently Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. Previous to lecturing for the school, Jack was a Field Instructor for graduate students at Youth Options (now LifeWorks) since 1989.
Jack has over 30 years of experience working with families and youth; including four years in children's protective services, three years working in psychiatric residential treatment with adolescents, and ten years in a marriage and family counseling private practice. As a private practitioner, Jack was twice voted ('94/'95) Austin's best family therapist in the Parenting in the 90's annual reader's poll. He also has 8 years of experience working as a manager and/or clinical supervisor of social service programs, and 12 years experience providing private clinical supervision for social workers and counselors pursuing licensure as social work LCSW's and counselor LPC's.
Jack currently works full time for the Texas Network of Youth Services (a nonprofit membership association dedicated to promoting excellence in youth services organizations through support, training, and advocacy) as a program development specialist consulting with member agencies related to their technical assistance needs and providing practice-oriented trainings. Before coming to TNOYS, for ten years Jack worked with families and youth providing crisis counseling services and brief therapy at LifeWorks (formerly Youth Options) in Austin, Texas.
Jack has presented papers or workshops at over 40 statewide and regional conferences, including the Texas Assoication of Marriage and Family Therapists, the National Conference on Nonviolence, the Governor's Conference on the Prevention of Child Abuse, and the Child Welfare League of America's Southwest Training Conference.
Jack is licensed in the state of Texas as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker; approved as a supervisor for Social Workers and Professional Counselors, and a Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
