AUSTIN, Texas – School of Social Work graduate student Erin Hazel participated in the White House Young America Summit held April 10, at The University of Texas at Austin. The forum allowed UT students who are serious about social justice to tell the Obama administration about their efforts.
“Erin Hazel made an amazing showing,” said Sinda Nichols, Speak Up! Speak Out! Project Manager with the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Participation, which hosted the event.
Hazel initiated and facilitated a very successful dialogue about food justice with a group of young leaders from throughout the UT community and beyond.
“Erin led her group in a tremendously enlivened, engaging discussion as part of the ‘open space’ deliberative process. We were so glad to have her there,” Nichols said.
About 150 to 200 students participated in the forum held in the KLRU studio.
