Application for an Undergraduate Degree (BSW)
The University of Texas at Austin Office of Admissions is responsible for the admission and readmission of undergraduate students to the University. For more information, contact the Freshman Admission Center. Transfer students should contact the Office of Admissions: Transfer Students.
Application for a Graduate Degree (MSSW or Ph.D.)
Admission to the MSSW and Ph.D. degree programs are competitive and early application is encouraged. Application to either graduate degree program requires admission to both the Graduate School of The University of Texas at Austin and the School of Social Work. In order to be considered for admission, you must complete the School of Social Work on-line application. To complete the application you must have an electronic ID (EID) provided by the university.
When application materials have been received by the School of Social Work and the Graduate School, an applicant file is created and processing begins. After a Graduate Admission Committee review, the School of Social Work Graduate Advisor forwards a recommendation for admission to the Vice President and Dean of Graduate Studies at the University. While the Graduate School generally follows the recommendation made by the School of Social Work, official acceptance into any graduate program requires the approval of the Dean of the Graduate School. Applicants should expect to receive notification from both the Graduate School and the School of Social Work.
