AUSTIN, Texas - The Social Work Alumni Network (SWAN), the alumni association of The University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work, has extended its tribute gift initiative to honor social workers throughout National Professional Social Work Month, March 2009.
"Honor a Social Worker" gift cards are available in any amount with a minimum contribution of $10 per honoree. Orders can be made online. (Be sure to type the name and address of your honoree(s) in the white box at right on the form.)

SWAN will send a personalized card to a social worker of your choice stating that you have made a gift in his/her honor.
All funds contributed to the "Honor a Social Worker" initiative go to the SWAN Scholarship awarded annually to a deserving social work student. The 2008-09 Austin SWAN Scholarship recipient is graduate student Sarah Carswell. Read more.
"The 'Honor a Social Worker' tribute is a wonderful way to recognize social workers-friends, colleagues, professors-for their expertise or inspiration, while at the same time support our future professional social workers at the School of Social Work," said SWAN Board President Joan Asseff, M.S.S.W. '06.
The National Association of Social Workers (NASW), established in 1955, is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with 150,000 members. Each year, the NASW honors social workers across the country with National Professional Social Work Month. This important observance is an annual opportunity for the profession to reflect on its history, celebrate the important work that is being done and look toward a promising future for all those social workers serve.
