At the School of Social Work, Fader-Brock serves as a Dean's Ambassador, co-chairs the Advisory Committee on Social Justice and works as a research assistant for the Inter-American Institute for Youth Justice, a unit of the Center for Social Work Research.
Upon graduation in 2010, she plans to continue working with "at-risk" youth both in direct practice as well as researching and developing creative innovations for building protective factors in these youth with a focus on creative expression and exploration of mind-body connection and self-care.
"I consider public service to be work performed to further the good of the people or their larger community. Public service seeks to even the playing field and create opportunities for all to be productive, inspired and empowered citizens," Fader-Brock said.
The Ashworth Fellowship program was established in 1997 by members of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to honor Dr. Kenneth H. Ashworth for his service as Commissioner of Higher Education in Texas from 1976-1997.
