May 20, 2009

AUSTIN, Texas - Jeremy Goldbach, a doctoral student in the School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin, received The George H. Mitchell Award for Excellence in Graduate Research at the University Co-op/Graduate School Awards for Excellence in Graduate Education held at the Four Seasons Hotel May 12.

This award recognizes outstanding research that is substantially in progress. Three awards of $3,000 each were presented to: Jeremy Goldbach, Social Work; Naminata Diabate, Comparative Literature; and Barrett Klein, Ecology, Evolution and Behavior.

"Graduate students make significant contributions across the university," said Victoria Rodrguez, vice provost and dean of graduate studies. "They advance research programs, teach and mentor undergraduates and discover new knowledge. The students being honored with these awards represent the best of graduate education and research at the university."

Goldbach is also a featured student in the article, Spotlight on Graduate Students and Community Service, appearing in the April/May 2009 issue of GradNews, a publication of the Graduate School.
