The Black Faculty and Staff Association at the University of Texas at Austin serves the entire university community with a focus on providing a support network and host of resources for African and African American staff and faculty. We also are here to advocate for all students at the university.
What BFSA means to me is a network of incredible leaders both inside and outside of the classroom. Our organization provides camaraderie through our many programs and initiatives. In addition to our weekly meetings, we also host Signature Events that include the Annual Holiday Gathering, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Luncheon, Community Potluck (with AAAFSA, HFSA and PEFSA) and our Annual Black History Month Program.
This year we are also going to focus on four key strategic areas to enhance the experience for staff and faculty. We are going to focus on wellness, supporting our students in more tangible ways, reaching our to faculty members (many of whom may teach or conduct research at the same times of our meetings) and developing a strategic plan for BFSA.
Join us as we look to provide a first class, supportive and co-curricular experience for staff and faculty here at UT-Austin. On behalf of the 2008-2009 Executive Board, we look forward to seeing you at our many events!
Love, Peace and Progress!
