About BFSA

The Black Faculty and Staff Association (formerly African-American Staff Advocating Progress) was founded by Dr. Wanda Nelson. The BFSA was incorporated in December 1990 and the by-laws and constitution were officially adopted in April 1991. This organization is dedicated to visible commitment and inclusion of Black faculty, staff and students at the University of Texas at Austin.

Mission

Advocating progress for Black staff, faculty, and students at The University of Texas at Austin through the promotion of professional development, mentoring, networking, wellness, scholarships and cultural programs that emphasize the legacy and traditions of the African-American community.
